Trinidadians in New York Set to Celebrate Cultural Heritage with Parade of Sorts on Sept 12
A small parade is coming to the streets of New York on Saturday, September 12, to celebrate the cultural heritage of Trinidadians living in the city. Organized by a group of local Trinidadians, the event aims to bring the community together and showcase their unique customs and traditions.
The parade, which is being held in conjunction with the NYPD, was originally planned for August 30 but was cancelled due to safety concerns. However, organizers were determined to find a way to move forward with the event, and after several weeks of planning, they have finally come up with a plan.
“We want to celebrate our culture and heritage, and we want to make sure everyone feels welcome and included,” said Tiffany LaPierre, one of the organizers. “We’re excited to have this parade and can’t wait to see all the colorful costumes and lively music.”
The parade will feature a variety of performances, including traditional Trini music, dance, and food. There will also be vendors selling Trini-themed merchandise and other local specialties.
For many Trinidians living in New York, this parade represents an opportunity to reconnect with their roots and share their culture with their new community. “It’s a great way for us to celebrate our heritage and connect with each other,” said another organizer. “We’re excited to have this event and can’t wait to see everyone there.”
The parade will take place in the afternoon, starting at 2 pm, and will be held in the vicinity of the NYPD headquarters. The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to wear their best Trini attire.
